Accept the challenge and you will be launching the Turn The Tide Challenge with us – an initiative to bring swimmers from all over the globe together in support of turning the tide against global warming – before our planet passes the point of no return.

So get a company, club or your open water swimming crew together to take on the challenge.

INSPIRATION AND CONSERVATION

The experience is about much more than the swim, and begins with two online presentations intorducing you to your hosts – then builds up with a coaching programme and culminates in the safari swim weekend.

TEAMBUILDING BREAKAWAY

Friday afternoon check in at the stunning Settlers Drift lodge on Kariega Game Resrve, afternoon game drive and evening riund the fire – planning your swim strategy.

CAN YOU BEAT THE TURNING TIDE?

The beautiful Bushman’s river is your playground, as it runs from Settlers Drift to River Lodge. A nearly 20km Epic, starting at turn of the tide.

You have 6 hours to cover 18.5km, before the tide pushes against you, which might make your goal unachievable.

TEAMWORK IS DREAMWORK

A full team is up to 10 people
At least 1 swimmer must be in the water at all times, but you can have as many as you want swimming at any point
When more than 1 swimmer is in the water you need to swim as a team within 30 metres of each other
There is no limit on how far each swimmer swims, or how often you pass the baton
All swimmers must swim the final straight of ~800 metres
Wetsuits are allowed

Safety Regulations

Safety and support protocols will be in place on the river.
- A first aid qualified ranger will be on each team’s boat
- The baton will be a safety flotation device
- Food, water and sports drinks on each team boat
It is a safari experience, and as such we will at all times comply with the covid-19 regulations for on reserve activity and at the lodge
